Why the BNI is perfect for a startup business

I started this business earlier this year. It wasn't what I set out to do, as many of my long-time readers will already know. I was gong to start an estate agency but I put this on the back burner as the housing market continued to stagnate and the online-only estate agents started to take market share.

I am a content writer and one of the first things I did with my new business was to publish a book on being a content writer.

How To Become A Freelance Content Writer: Make Money By Writing At Home

In this book one of the pieces of advice is give is to join a networking group. Writing can be a lonely profession and by joining a networking group you get many benefits such as -

  • Meeting new businesses
  • Finding people you can help
  • Finding other professionals that can help you
  • Getting out of the house
  • Being part of something bigger than your own business

For my part I joined a local chapter of the BNI, the world's largest referral organisation. And that phrase referral organisation is really what sets the BNI apart from other groups. They get people together and then teach them how to look for business for each other. This doesn't take up more time for people than their ordinary everyday work but brings a benefit to the group.

Ad the group that I have joined is going to break records. Already the fastest growing group in the UK and Ireland, it will also be the biggest group ever launched in the UK and Ireland. The launch will happen late this year or early next year with an amazing number of 50 members or more. This means that there will be fifty people in the room all looking to give each other business.

The BNI works because there is only one person per profession allowed in any group and the people there work together to help each other. BNI offers support and training and all of the business is tracked so we can see how successful we are.

If you are based in or near Sedgefiled and are looking to grow your business then why not come along and see what we are all about? If you are interested then please leave a comment in the box below and I will get in touch with more details.
