Visual aids will always help to recall the character of a property

-50

As I'm looking at setting up my estate agency, I'm starting to think about the separate elements that made up my daily life in estate agency in the past. One of the main things that came to me this week was answering calls from prospective buyers about property. The calls would be split between direct calls about a particular property and general calls along the lines of "what have you got in the way of 3 bedroom houses?" And these are the type of calls I'm having to think about differently. Sat in the window of an estate agents, I was ways surrounded by the answers. I could look at the property details in front of me and immediately recall the details of the property from the image. Transferring my work environment from an estate agency office to my home office immediately changes that dynamic.

My first thought is to look at a recreation of this effect somehow into home office. It's a converted garage, as I've blogged before, so it's not a small space. It only has one window, so I'm unable to recreate exactly the estate agents window that has prompted me do well in the past. So, something along the lines of a notice board or using one of the walls where I can put up images or details of the properties I have for sale.

I think that being able to glance across whilst I'm on the phone to a potential buyer and look straight at the properties available will be a huge aid in being to recall further details. The saying goes that pictures paint a thousand words is definitely true. Just looking back at the photos of a property I've sold in the past brings back images of the person selling the property and how well they made a cup of tea! They bring back memories of when I took the property on, the people I've shown round, the idiosyncrasies of the property and any memorable incidents. To be able to tap into that feeling when talking about a property is invaluable. As this blog talks about-

It's setting myself up to think about the different small aspects of how the operation will work and getting my brain working in relation to how I will tackle them. As I get to grips with all of the different aspects then I'll relay my thoughts to you all! takes away that natural visual aid.
